Translation
I translate 19th and early 20th century German language letters and documents (birth certificates, diaries, postcards CVs, correspondence with authorities).
The process:
YOU send me a sample of the material. I will evaluate and send you a quote, based on my hourly rate applied to the sample. Factors such as handwriting style, personal handwriting, and paper and ink influence the legibility and are therefore significant. The number of documents is also a factor.
Additional services:
Viewing, sorting and arrangement of archives.
Ordering undated pages or letter fragments where possible.
Some of my clients have specific questions which I take into account, e.g. information regarding a German citizenship application or their focus of research.
Transcription Services
I transcribe 19th and early 20th century German language letters and documents written in Kurrent, Sütterlin and German normal script (i.e. anything that looks like contemporary handwriting). Read more about these different scripts on my Substack here.

Training, Speaking & Writing
I give lectures about my work, and provide training for select clients who want to learn how to read old handwriting styles. I also write about and reflect on my work on my Substack. Take a look here.
